Hello, all ...
I'm trying to set up a CVS server on my Gentoo box, and i'm having a few difficulties. I followed the instructions on this wiki:
gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_CVS_Server
... but they seem to be incorrect (under Apply Correct Permissions, there is a line that says "# chmod -R 775 /var/lib/cvsd/var", but there is no var directory under /var/lib/cvsd on my Gentoo box).
Anyway, I made a change to /etc/cvsd/cvsd.conf (enabled a repository), but now when I try to restart cvsd, I get this:
jmzorko@pugspoo ~ $ sudo /etc/init.d/cvsd restart
* Stopping cvsd ... [ !! ]
jmzorko@pugspoo ~ $
... and I don't see anything in /var/log/messages, or /var/log/much-of-anything, or dmesg, that would give me a clue as to why cvsd won't stop (it is running).
Any help would be appreciated -- i've loads of C++ and Perl code (that runs on Mac OSX as well as Linux) that wants to be centrally managed :-)
Regards,
John

... forget it, I just restarted the machine (shutdown -r now). I didn't want to do it (uptime is everything! <smile>) but CVS does work now -- i'm able to login, import, check out, commit, etc.
Regards,
John, wondering what the issue was
