I run it on a personal server on the Internet, I run one for a firewall and I run it at home. I wish I could run it at work.
So tell us, how many Gentoo boxes you run?

Re: I love Gentoo.
Fri, January 9, 2004 - 6:06 AMI just put gentoo on a Dell Poweredge we had laying around in the server room. It was a bit of a PITA to get the kernel properly configured for the serial RAID, but I finally had it figured out.
The next morning I came in, and found out there had been a miscommunication about who was to be installing the OS. Somebody else had come in after me, wiped the box, and installed RedHat.
I still have my gentoo box at home, though, which I mostly use as a file server. -

Re: I love Gentoo.
Fri, January 9, 2004 - 7:09 PMWe get some rather Phat servers at work (4 proc 2.4 Gzh, 4G RAM, 250G Ultra 3 Disks) that I will drop Gentoo onto to see how fast it can go. Should be cool.

Re: I love Gentoo.
Fri, January 9, 2004 - 2:23 PMI've got gentoo running on one box here at home, which acts as fileserver, router/firewall, web server, and a secondary desktop machine for web browsing, etc. We have one gentoo system at work for our development server.

Re: I love Gentoo.
Tue, April 13, 2004 - 11:26 PMAt home, I run gentoo on my main workstation, fileserver, and laptop. I've just replaced my gentoo firewall box with OpenBSD, so that's a total of three. I've just found CoLinux ( www.colinux.org ) and will be demoing that on my one remaining winbox.
I am a sysadmin at a ~80-employee business unit of a somewhat sizeable Fortune 500 corporation. Over the past year and a half, we've been deploying gentoo on our production systems at the office. DNS, mail, web, ftp, smb, and other critical infrastructure systems all run Gentoo, or are being migrated from SuSE and/or MS to Gentoo. Including workstation installs, we've something on the order of 25 gentoo systems going, with more on the way.
I love gentoo.

Another Gentoo box
Wed, March 23, 2005 - 10:29 PMCurrently, I have a server running Slackware very minimalistically, while my desktop runs Gentoo and my laptop (that my gf mostly uses to play PySol solitaire, and check email with Thunderbird) runs Gentoo as well as having an installation of icky Server 2003 on it, in case I need to either a.) use windows for some obscure task that I can't hack a wine installation or CrossOver Office to get done or b.)print to my obscure Brother laser MFC, which I have had no luck getting working with any linux distro.
So, two Gentoo installations, one dual booted with Server 2003, and a Slackware server. -

Re: Another Gentoo box
Tue, May 10, 2005 - 10:10 AMi have dual-boot winblow$ server 2003 / gentoo 2005 on my athlonXP desktop (so i can hack at Active Directory for bone-headed client), also have an old celeron 333 running 2.4 acting as web, database and file server and extra web browsing station for technology impaired roommate. currently trying to install on old-school presario laptop. i have learned more about linux installing, running, and crashing gentoo on my machines than i would have from a dozen classes.
gentoo rocks the house!!!
